Dutch cyclist Harrie Lavreysen achieved an impressive triple of gold-winning in keirin， sprint， and team sprint to become the biggest winner in the Velodrome淫， which witnessed intense competition， with speed， drama， and emotional victories at the Paris Olympics.

PARIS， Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- A week of racing in the heat and humidity of the Velodrome at Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines produced as much drama and excitement as you would expect in a sport where riders hit speeds of over 75 kilometers an hour on the banked track.

The event also gave us plenty of riders who hit the headlines with some stunning performances with Harrie Lavreysen of the Netherlands showing he is the undisputed king of sprinting on the track.

Lavreysen won gold in keirin on Sunday to add to the gold he claimed in the men's sprint on Thursday when he reached "insane speed" and his success as part of the Dutch team sprint on Tuesday.

He then hammered home his dominance in the keirin final on Sunday， leading out a long sprint and holding on to the line.

"It's incredible， this was my biggest dream，" said Lavreysen on Sunday. The Dutch rider said he had felt "really strong" all week and on Sunday he thought the triple was "possible' - but I needed to ride the perfect final， and I was really close to doing that."

"I had two golds and one bronze in Tokyo and I trained really， really hard to be strong every day (...) I knew it was possible. But doing it is a different thing，" explained the Lavreysen.

The Dutch rider has said he will continue until Los Angeles 2028， which is bad news for Australian Matthew Richardson， who took silver in sprint and keirin and was clearly the best among the cycling mortals， looking for gold in L.A.

Ellesse Andrews staked her claim to be the best female rider in the velodrome as she shone in a brilliant New Zealand team.

Andrews formed part of the women's team sprint trio， who kicked off on the track with a silver medal.

She went one better with gold in the keirin and then beat Lea Friedrich of Germany to win her second gold in the women's sprint competition.

"I feel like I'm living in a dream. I don't really know what to say. It's been a massive week，" she said following her sprint win.

The New Zealand women's team also claimed silver in the team pursuit after setting the best time in qualifying.

Emma Finucane arrived in Paris as world champion in women's sprint and also lived up to the hype powering home the British team for gold in the women's team sprint to claim the first gold medal on the track.

"I was just riding with a smile on my face，" commented the 21-year-old， who followed up that gold with bronze in the keirin and another bronze in the sprint to complete a successful debut Games.

"It's been sensational. This whole week has been such a rollercoaster of emotions... I left everything on that track，" said the British rider.

Australia also showed the depth of their track talent， with Richardson impressing and they also powered to gold in a thrilling men's team pursuit in a final that was neck and neck with Britain until Matthew Hayter's legs failed him with around 200 meters left to ride.

The British also left with plenty of medals， apart from Finucane's success， as Neah Evans and Elinor Barker rode to silver in the women's Madison， thanks to a powerful last sprint.

The women's quartet also took bronze in a team pursuit won by the USA， which saw Kristen Faulkner add track gold to the road race success she had last Sunday.

Jack Carlin repeated his sprint bronze from Tokyo， but crashed out in the keirin as he chased another medal.

And it was French rider Thomas Benjamin who produced perhaps the most emotive moment on the velodrome as he collapsed in tears after winning the omnium - a success that came despite falling with just over 20 laps to ride and was the emotive moment of seven days of speed， thrills淫， spills and glory on the velodrome boards. ■
